The Juvederm® collection
There are five different filler products in the collection designed to help patients achieve the specific desired results:
- Juvederm Voluma® XC: The only product designed to address the cheek area, Voluma® helps add volume to the midface area and both lifts and contours the cheeks for up to two years.
- Juvederm Vollure™ XC: Vollure™ XC uses VYCROSS® technology and is the newest filler by Allergan created to treat nasolabial folds for up to 18 months.
- Juvederm® XC: This filler helps soften lines and wrinkles around the lips and nose and can last up to one year.
- Juvederm Volbella® XC: Also using Allergan’s new VYCROSS® technology, Volbella® XC enhances lips by adding volume and removing vertical lip lines for up to a year.
- Juvederm® Ultra XC: Patients can choose this dermal filler option for fuller lips and smoother parentheses lines for up to one year.
How it works
With aging, most people experience volume loss in the face, which can cause sagging of the cheeks, wrinkles and thinning lips. While high amounts of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in an individual’s youth keeps skin and lips looking plump and hydrated, levels drop over time. Juvederm® works by helping to temporarily replenish hyaluronic acid in the skin and lips to smooth wrinkles and add volume. The treatment process for this filler typically takes less than an hour to complete, and patients often notice results as soon as the procedure is over.
Safety
This filler is FDA-approved for patients at least 21 one years of age. It must be administered by a trained healthcare professional, and it should not be used on patients with a history of allergies. It is also necessary for patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or on immunosuppressive therapy to consult with a doctor. There are several common side effects patients should be aware of, including swelling, pain, itching, discoloration and bruising. While these effects often occur right after treatment, some people do not notice any problems until later.
Conclusion
Whether dealing with sagging cheeks, nasolabial lines or thin lips, patients can ask a doctor if Juvederm® is a good option for their specific needs. While other options might require surgery, this filler enhances the skin and lips by simply injecting hyaluronic acid. It is important to remember that the benefits of this dermal filler are temporary and will need to be repeated.
