How to Stay Comfortable After a Brazilian Butt Lift

Brazilian butt lift Schaumburg, IL

A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) can get you the butt you have always desired, but it does come with a recovery period that typically limits what you can do for the first few weeks after getting the treatment. A BBL works by removing fat from areas of the patient's body like the waist, lower back, arms and thighs.

Liposuction is used for this extraction. This is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that consists of using a tube that is connected to a vacuum to extract fat tissues from areas where they have accumulated.

The fat is purified after the extraction before being injected into the patient's buttocks. The surgeon is able to inject specific parts of the patient's body, making it possible to sculpt the patient's buttocks with fat as desired. A BBL is often preferred to getting butt implants since it requires smaller incisions being made. Some patients might have to get implants if they do not have enough fat stores to give their rear end the volume they want.

Getting comfortable after a Brazilian butt lift

Here are some simple things patients can do to make life easier for themselves after getting BBL:

1. Use a pregnancy pillow

After getting a BBL, the patient will not be able to sleep on their back for the first few weeks afterward. Doctors recommend getting a pregnancy pillow since this can help to support the hips and back while sleeping. Every bit of comfort helps since getting adequate amounts of rest helps speed up the recovery process.

2. Wear a compression garment as advised

Patients will have to deal with some swelling after getting a BBL. Many surgeons provide compression suits that should cover all the areas fat was extracted from. A compression garment will help to manage the swelling and reduce discomfort when worn.

3. Walk around

Patients are advised not to partake in strenuous activities for the first few weeks after the treatment, but they are encouraged to do some light walking after a week has passed. It helps increase blood flow and keeps joints active. It leads to the release of feel-good hormones which make the patient feel better.

Patients should contact their surgeon if they experience pain during their walks.

4. Get lots of rest

The body does most of its repairing and rebuilding when you are asleep or inactive, and patients should keep that in mind during the recovery. Getting lots of rest is one of the most effective ways to speed up healing and keep discomfort to a minimum.

Drinking lots of water and consuming a diet that is rich in proteins, antioxidants and vitamins also speed things along.

The reward is greater than the hassle of recovery

Getting a BBL comes with a recovery period that can be as long as six weeks, but the results can last a long time if you maintain your weight. Stop by our clinic to learn more about this plastic surgery treatment.
