Juvederm® is a type of injectable hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that is used at a medspa to both correct facial wrinkles and folds and add volume to the lips and cheeks. Patients can enhance the appearance of lips using either Juvederm® Ultra XC or Juvederm® Volbella XC. As collagen declines with age, people often notice lips getting thinner. Patients seeking fuller lips can benefit from using Juvederm® Ultra XC. For patients who wish to add some volume to the lips and also minimize the appearance of vertical lip lines, Juvederm® Volbella XC can be used. Both types of fillers are designed to last up to a year.

Juvederm® is safe, and most patients do not experience any serious or lasting side effects. This is because the Juvederm® substance is naturally derived. With that said, there may be some mild symptoms related to the injection for a few days after treatment. The possible side effects include swelling, soreness, and redness of the skin.
Juvederm® results are temporary and not intended as a permanent or long-term treatment solution. However, many patients report the benefits of treatment lasting for up to a year. Results may vary, however, and it is important to discuss realistic expectations with your medspa Juvederm® provider before beginning treatment.
