Eyebrow shaping is something that can enhance your appearance. The right eyebrows can make a woman look more alert, rejuvenated and youthful. They can enhance features and really help eyes to stand out. Unfortunately, most women are not sure what shape of eyebrows will be the most effective for achieving their optimal appearance. It takes a professional with an artistic eye, like ours, to truly know how the shape of the eyebrows is going to help a woman look beautiful and their very best.
A lot of women who visit us prior to shaping come in after they have made some horrible mistakes. Looking to fix them, they come in for advice on shaping or to have us handle it for them. Some of the most common mistakes we see are:
1. Over-plucking
Eyebrows should not be too thin. When they are plucked in excess, there may no longer be enough eyebrow left to truly create the definition that is necessary to enhance the shape of the face and eyes. When using tweezers at home, only remove stray hairs. Then, visit professionals for shaping. The tweezers should only be used between appointments to maintain the existing shape, not to change it.
2. Shaving
Some women go so far as to shave their eyebrows completely. Then, using a pencil, they draw them in. This is a huge and catastrophic mistake. Even the most expensive pencil is not going to look like natural eyebrows. It is absolutely imperative to leave natural eyebrows in place. A pencil can be used to enhance their color and fill in any missing spots but should never be used as a substitute for natural eyebrows.
3. Making eyebrows to short
Eyebrows need to be long enough to make the eyes appear to be wider, not shorter and more squared. Unfortunately, many people pluck their eyebrows to the point that they are far too short and do not extend long enough along the brow line. This will have the opposite effect of what has been intended by making eyes appear to be smaller than they are.
4. Turning eyebrows into a thin line
It can be tempting to turn full thick eyebrows into a small and thin line. This typically is not a good idea and people who do it will often compensate by using an eyebrow pencil, which again, will not look natural.
5. Keeping a unibrow in place
Just like it is important not to remove too much of the eyebrows, it is also critical to remove enough so that no one ever has a unibrow. If the hair coming from both eyebrows meets in the middle, it is a unibrow. At home, people should at least pluck enough hair to ensure that eyebrows cannot touch or come close to touching.
It is easy to make mistakes when it comes to shaping the eyebrows. In fact, few people get it right at home. This is why it is so much easier to just to visit our office for help. We can determine what shape of eyebrows would be the best for enhancing your appearance and then get to work turning them into that shape. If they are already thick, this could be done in one appointment. However, if eyebrows are currently suffering from over-plucking, shaving or going a little crazy with the waxing, we may need to shape them in stages while the hair grows back in.
We encourage everyone to visit our office for an appointment to experience how something as simple as correctly shaping the eyebrows can truly enhance their look. Schedule an appointment today so that we can use eyebrow shaping to turn your eyebrows into something that is truly beautiful.
