Everything You Should Know About Nose Surgery

Enhance your facial harmony by undergoing nose surgery. When the nose is too large, oddly shaped or angled, one of the best things a person can do to improve their appearance is to visit a plastic surgeon. In our clinic, we help people of all ages to improve their appearance using this highly effective surgical procedure. We can do the same for you and invite you to schedule a consultation to learn how.

Reasons people schedule nose surgery

  • Nose that is too small
  • Nose that is too large
  • Nasal humps
  • Nose that is too wide
  • Drooping nose
  • Nose that turns up
  • Nose that is angled incorrectly
  • Breathing problems stemming from the shape of the inside of the nose

Things to consider

Scheduling surgery is incredibly beneficial when it comes to improving a person's appearance. It can dramatically change how someone looks for the better. However, changing how someone looks so dramatically means that each patient must become accustomed to their new look or appearance. This can take time and some people find it rather unsettling. This makes it important to be sure prior to undergoing the procedure.

Most people will not have any visible scars, however, it is possible. We will discuss the likelihood of scars forming during a consultation after we have determined what must be done during the actual procedure. For the most part, we are able to complete the process without it being obvious after the fact and that includes making sure there is minimal scarring.

Before surgery

Anyone who decides to have the surgery should take certain steps to make it more likely that everything will go smoothly. This includes:

  • Discontinuing any use of aspirin or medications that can cause increased bleeding
  • Quitting smoking
  • Limiting alcohol intake
  • Staying hydrated
  • Treating any health problems

This will make it more likely that the procedure will go smoothly and that the recovery will be fast.

Day of the surgery

It will be important to arrive on time and preferably, early. Get plenty of rest the night before so that you are well rested. Patients are given medication so that they can go to sleep during the procedure. This way, patients will not remember anything from the procedure or feel any discomfort during it. How long the surgery takes will depend on what needs to be accomplished. Afterwards, patients are placed in a recovery room where they slowly begin to wake up. Patients are carefully monitored to ensure that they are in good health prior to being sent home.

Recovery process

After surgery, the nose will need to recover. Swelling will need to be reduced and this can take time. For several weeks, it will be necessary to rest or engage in light activity, avoid wearing glasses and going out in the sun. We will provide a full set of care instructions prior to the procedure.
