Different Methods for Breast Augmentation

Cosmetic SurgeryBreast augmentations are currently one of the most common cosmetic procedures being done today. They are allowing women all over to enhance their breasts in ways to make them feel more confident. Women have been having breast augmentations performed for many years and they are only growing in popularity.

While breast augmentations are cosmetic procedures, it is still important to remember that it requires invasive surgery. And, there are different methods for having it done. Being aware of the different methods can greatly benefit a person who is considering having them done.

Today, we will discuss the different methods that exist for breast augmentations. Consider each of them before committing to breast augmentation in order to be well informed.

Different methods for breast augmentation

The inframammary method

The inframammary method for breast augmentations is one of the more popular ones because the incision site is smaller and less visible to the eye. The cut is made underneath the breast where the crease typically will fold over. This fold is called the inframammary fold and that is where the name comes from for the procedure.

The surgeon has a better point of access with this method, and efficiency and precision are both easily achieved because there is a wider opening.

Trans-axillary

This method involves an incision underneath the armpit and next to each breast. Because the insertion of the implant is from a less precise angle, a camera is typically inserted and used as well in order to ensure that proper placement is given. While the incision site is visible near the armpit, the breast itself does not incur any scars.

Peri-areolar

The peri-areolar method of breast augmentations is done through the areola, otherwise known as the nipple. The incision site is along the areola so any scarring is typically hidden by the natural color that surrounds the area.

Cosmetic surgeons prefer this method if a person is also having a breast lift done as well. This is because the breasts also incur some wounds during a lift, so having the wound heal along the areola is best since other parts of the breast are also having to heal from the lift.

Transumbilical

This method of having the breasts done can be more invasive. A cosmetic surgeon will insert the implants through the navel so that scarring on or around the breasts isn’t incurred. While this approach does create more pain because the belly is touched as well, it can provide a person with no scarring near their breasts.

Breast augmentations are involved procedures that do require a lot of patience once they are over. However, it is beneficial for women to know what methods are available to them for their procedure.
